Israel has expressed its determination to take decisive action against Iran if the Tehran-backed terror group Hezbollah becomes involved in the conflict. In an interview with The Mail on Sunday, Nir Barkat, Israel’s Minister of Economy, emphasized that Israel will not hesitate to launch a military attack and eliminate the threat posed by Hezbollah. Barkat further warned that should Hezbollah initiate an attack on Israel, Iran’s Ayatollahs will face severe consequences and be eradicated completely.
His inflammatory remarks evoke the ominous possibility of an intensifying regional confrontation and precede an anticipated Israeli incursion into the Gaza Strip with the aim of eradicating Hamas. Tens of thousands of Israeli soldiers are currently stationed along the borders of the territory, where Hamas, supported by Iran, is currently holding approximately 200 hostages captured during the forceful attack on southern Israel on October 7th.
Growing concerns have arisen that Israel may be compelled to engage in a two-front battle, as the Israel Defence Forces and Hezbollah have been exchanging fire along the northern border with Lebanon on multiple occasions last week.In order to dissuade Tehran from further intervention, Mr. Barkat issued a stern warning that Israel would take decisive action against Hezbollah and even target Iran if necessary. He emphasized that Iran’s plan to attack Israel on multiple fronts would not be tolerated, and that Israel would not only retaliate against such attacks, but also strike at the root of the problem by targeting Iran itself.
The Ayatollahs in Iran will face severe consequences if, by any chance, they initiate any actions on the northern front. Lebanon and Hezbollah will also bear the brunt of these consequences, just like Hamas. However, this is not sufficient. It is crucial to emphasize that the leadership of Iran will also be targeted. The timing of this action will be determined by us.
Israel is sending a clear and unequivocal message to its adversaries. We are cautioning them by pointing out the ongoing situation in Gaza – any aggression towards us will result in a similar response. We are determined to eradicate any threat posed to us.
